Tommy at Poly Performance got me taken care of again. Correct master build kit for my diff, Daytona pinion support, Trail Gear flange from 9" to Toyota drive shaft, and Trail Gear inner housing seals. Fast shipping too, the order was placed yesterday.

Just gotta find someone in the OC area to build the diff, open to suggestions. I should have all the parts necessary now.

Dear God this truck is amazing . My wholes life I've been partial to x-cabs over doubles, your truck has single-handedly changed my mind!

Was your first tire set-up 35's on 17's? The set-up in the first pictures that is.

Thank you! I've always had extended cabs and I'm so stoked that I was able to buy this double cab. They're so unique. The first tire set up I believe was a 35 on a 16" rim.

Got tired of kicking this thing in my garage, so I put it in. Had to cut out my lower arm crossmember, but other than that it went in smoothly. I removed the ADD crap and locked it so the diff is engaged. Plan is to run manual locking hubs anyways.

4wd LT all day. Are your hubs going to work for that? They looked a tad interesting from your pictures, like they were modded or something? How are those links coming? Are you doing all the work yourself or having it done? I recall something about "dropping it off at the shop."

I'm gonna get a new kit, what's on the truck now doesn't suit my needs. It uses a stock spindle that has been modified in several ways for proper steering geometry, and to use uniball pivots, but those modifications put a big bolt right where an axle needs to go. Solo Motorsports makes a very nice bolt on long travel kit that is next after the links. It uses manual locking Dana 44 hubs.

As far as the rear end goes, the links are done being welded and are sitting in my parts pile. I'm not doing the work myself, I'm way too busy with work, so I'm having my friend at Dynamic Metalwerx do all the fab for me. He did a lot of work on my black ranger on the first page.

The standard 3.5" or the XLT 4.5" kit? Either way it's going to be sick. I'm actually really excited to hear you're going with the Solo kit. I'm juggling that option with the MCM kit myself and am perfectly balanced on the fence. There are a few builds on this forum with the MCM kit so I have a pretty good idea of what I'd be dealing with going that route but as far as the Solo kit goes I haven't been able to track down many first gen builds with that option so it will be nice to see one, especially 4wd!

Hope it all works out well for you! Can't wait for updates!

I think the 4.5" kit is the one I've been talking to them about. I haven't seen any pics or info on it besides what they've told me over the phone. However, I know people with the second gen kit who absolutely love it, and I have NEVER heard a negative review about Solo. Only problem is that it'll make the truck pretty wide.

Do you have a link for the MCM kit?

    Here's the MCM kit:
    http://stores.mcmfablv.com/96-04-6-lug-tacoma-long-travel/

This guy has a pretty in-depth build thread, including his installation of this kit:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...trail-rig-and-bs.159436/page-492#post-9725692

The new solo 4.5 kit looks ridiculous. They don't have any info of the first gen, 4wd kit on their site but I've heard that it's available. It uses horizontal ball joints and custom cv/u-joint hybrid axles so the travel numbers are like 18"-19". I think it's definitely the right way to go with your build, I don't see 13" on front travel being able to keep up with a linked rear.

Super excited for your build man, it's going to be a monster.

Yeah definitely talking about the 4.5 kit. I heard rumors about it on here, so I called the shop and got the 411. I haven't seen another kit on the market that comes close to what theirs offers. The 12 or 13" the current ESB kit offers works very well but since a lot of mods to the current kit or an entire replacement will be needed for 4x4 to work, I might as well get the kit I've fantasized about for months.

Big update: ran the last wire to hook up the running lights in the top picture. Getting crazy with the progress! Haha

Got lower link mounts that mount under the frame, uniballs and misalignments for the front of the links thanks to Tommy at Poly Performance.
