I think I'll be joining this club soon, because....

For those that used Monstaliner, did you use his primer at all? It sounds like proper sanding + MEK wipe will be sufficient, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I've also seen a guy get a smoother finish by using Home Depot foam rollers, and it looked great. Considering trying that as well.

    Fantastic!

Any updates? I'm leaning towards Med Quartz myself.

Just scuff and wipe down with MEK. I had to sand because most of the clear was coming off my paint when I decided to monstaline it.

I had to sand most of the hood and roof to bare metal, so I shot a quick coat of primer over that. I also primed the places where I fixed dents and dings. Not sure if it was necessary, but I figured it couldn't hurt.

Yeah got it done few weeks ago but had it all torn apart so took some reassembling. Now ive got the front end apart doing lift and such but will get it out for proper pics soon.

Here's a preview pic from day after. I believe the look has improved since, darkened a little and some.dirt and dust levels out the gloss and hides imperfections.

This is 3 coats, all trim/gaskets, side windows, and box pulled to do behind cab and jambs. Really happy overall and considering doing the tacoma after I finish the cage and am ready for a repaint.

Undoubtedly better than the paint job that was on it. I bought this truck cheap with plans to fix it up when I pulled my Tacoma off road as my DD so this was a perfect solution. Add to that i got hit and had a sweet insurance payout that payed for it and its hard not to smile.

My wife asked my if we could do her Sequoia in Rolling Coal but her paint is in great shape. If anything ever happens to change that though.....

Check out rhino liner if you don’t see any good choices - that you can tint to almost any color.

You can custom tint Monstaliner, they provide instructions on getting the color from your local paint store. For me, i had a silver truck so sticking with a like color made everything easier to blend hard to reach spots even though i disassembled as much as I could.
