Does anyone make them? I know energy suspension makes them for 1st Gen tacos up to 2001, but I cannot seem to find any sway bar and sway bar end link poly bushings for my 6 lug 03 PreRunner.

These are my links; the red arrows point to the end link bushings:swaybarlink.jpg

    Are those bushings ball joints?!

Replacing the links themselves wouldn't be very expensive and they'd come with new bushings if nothing else works out.

Yes, they are a double joint type of link. the pic you posted is of the early 2nd Gen

Here is what yours look like. it is just a "dust/grease" cap and no bushing per se.

True however Im looking for pu bushings for better handling, I guess there aren't any available for this type of link though

I figured. So do you think these joints are just as good as having pu bushings would be? I'm just looking for better handling and my links are worn. I'm assuming there aren't really any aftermarket links for this year either?

there are people who make heim-joint links but there is nothing poly about them.

the 4Runner and 2000 & earlier Tacoma had the control arm part the same but used a straight shaft design with a bushing. not sure why it got switched.

I would need measurements from you on those links. Those are the exact same style as many 4runner's, and later Tacoma's. The only thing is that for some reason Toyota made super short links for like a 2 year period I think, and I would have to make sure I can make them that short. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

After replacing those bushings with the poly-type, and subsequently breaking the links when off-road, I replaces them with OEM rubber bushings and have, to date, no problems. I think the poly bushings are less flexible than the stock rubber ones and subject the links to undue stress.

But what do I know (other than having to replace stabilizer links)...

Good point. Because I off road a lot too so maybe getting the standard equipment would be better in the long run

I will repeat, the 2000 and earlier are different than 2001+ (these are the end links, not the middle ones the bar rolls in)

Also with the '98 straight style you could get quick disconnect versions all day :)

The mount on the LCA is different for both versions (different placement) but you could probably get a sway bar from an '00 or 4R and make it work.

That's what I would do, along with using a lighter foot.
