Some of you have the same silver colored truck as shown in my avatar. I tried two Dupli-Color vials to touch up and it looks like crap. They came out a muddy silver, not nearly silver enough. It almost looks worse than seeing the white primer underneath the scratched paint. Can anyone here with a similar truck and year and paint color recommend a touch up vial they use that looks half decent? What's weird is that both Dupli-Color vials were listed as matching my paint. One was Opal Silver and the other I tossed out and forget its name. I don't want to buy a quart.

Dealership sells em. I buy em for every Toyota I drive. Always a way better match then the auto parts store paint pens.

Lunar mist, at least I think that’s what my 2002 is.

Lunar Mist. THANKS GUYS! I'll see if I can somehow remove or flatten out the crappy looking Dupli-color touch up spots. It got a little gunky looking afterwards. I'm wary of sanding unless I can keep it precise. Maybe I'll try and carefully razor blade it off.

For some reason, my door edge sticker has been decimated, so I can't read the color. I bet it's Lunar Mist tho, from some of you having similar year truck as mine.

Any ideas to carefully get the built up Dupli-color off without fogging the surrounding paint by sanding? Maybe cut an emory board into a thin strip so it sands precisely?
    Razor blade it off?

Thanks. It's only been a day since the touch-up so it hasn't cured. I might use something like solvent based Goof-Off or a little lacquer thinner or even nail polish remover.. It may just soften up and come off. Will try your way too. I'm a painting contractor, but have never seen a sanding pen. I'll look into that.

I got the IC8 Lunar Mist touch up vial from Toyota. Thanks for that. It's pretty close to the paint color considering my truck is 17 years old. It came out a bit shiny tho. I suppose I could use some mild polishing compound to knock down the sheen.

When I got my tailgate repainted they showed me how there are about 20 versions of the lunar myst Metallic. Some had more gold, some a little more silver, ect.

The UV and weather will eventually even it out.

Great. I'm about to have my topper sprayed and color matched. I hope it's close.

I had a Lunar Mist touch up pen from the dealer years ago and it was not a good match. The dealer swapped it out for another one and same results. When I brought that second one back, one of the other parts guys asked me to try it again, but literally shake that damn thing for a solid 30 minutes. So I shook it for a solid 30 min and it matched up almost perfect - he stated some of those sit around for years at the dealer or warehouse that it takes that much shaking to get it truly mixed.

I figured out why the "Lunar Mist" 1C8 touch up pen matches so lousy. It's not a true sparkly paint like the original factory sprayed on paint which has a metallic look to it. Rather, it's more of a solid color which will never duplicate the original sprayed on effect/color.

I got lunar mist touch up paint from Pep Boys, same color code as was on my door label. The Duplicolor touch up paint is a joke, I had some stuff I needed to touch up on my camper and the touch up is so much darker than the truck.
