The recall will last 15 years from the original delivery date to the original owner... so they'll reframe them until sometime in 2019 for the 2004 models. You just have till the end of October to get the truck inspected so it can be on record for the warranty. Whether it passes or fails, it has to be inspected by the end of October.

I took my 2003 Tacoma Xtra cab in for inspection in March 2010 and it passed inspection. A couple of months ago I received a letter from Toyota to call my dealer and make an appointment to have it sprayed and rust proofed.. I took the truck back in yesterday and a few hours later got a call back from my dealer that the truck failed the ball peen hammer test and would need a new frame. They've got a new frame on order now which should arrive in to dealer in 4 to 6 weeks. Spoke with the master mechanic that would be working on my truck and he assured me that he now has 16 frame replacements under his belt with 100% satisfaction. He also advised that now its the time if I plan on having any updates done (ie, new shocks) as there will be no install charges.... I'll keep you all posted with pictures as this project gets on the way.

It failed, now im in a brand new 2011 silverado...

There were 14 other tacos ahead of me so it will be awhile to I see my truck again, no complaints here being I drive 100-200 miles a day for work. I will gladly claim my $0.50/mile with a free rental. They told me it's taking 2 guys 1.5-2 days to do a full swap and sometimes they have to sit on there hands waiting for frames to arrive.

I am going to have the 5100's put on as well as a 2" add a leaf on the back. I also plan on having them put the diff. spacer kit on. I think that setup will be the best bang for my buck. I am also having them replace the oil pan as it has some corrosion on it as well, that would be a PITA fix later on...

I was also told by toyota corporate and the dealer that they extended the spraying till 12/31/2010

So after 93 days I finally have my truck back...

Only cost Toyota $10,500.00 for the parts/labor and $3,800.00 for the rental.

I paid $200.00 additional to have them put on my 5100's, 2" aal and the diff drop kit.

How does it feel to have it back? That sucks that it took so long, but at least you finally have your Tacoma back.

It's really nice to have it back!! I did'nt mind to much, I get $0.50/mile for work so 14000 miles (mostly work) on a free rental truck is A-ok in my book.

I'm just hoping my muffler makes it through the winter, want to put a magnaflow on as soon as they stop salting the roads. Just had a headlight and both tag lights burn out... glad I noticed that before driving home last night...

    GO O's!!
