I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck using a lawyer against toyota pertaining to them not replacing frame after 15 year extended warranty expiration

Every one I heard about the initial consultation decided buying a new Truck was better then paying lawyers.

There is a pretty iron clad protocol one had to follow.

Think how hard Toyota will fight if you win or even settle then everyone else will now have a case.

Best of Luck no matter how it plays out.

Yeah, I had the frame spray program done in 2013 , they should have replaced frame instead, now it's past coverage and needs replacing, thanks for your response

Tons of people on here claim that they will. But at the end of the day its cheaper to buy another truck than pay a lawyer to loose a case for you against a multi-billion dollar company and their team of lawyers.

Toyota did what they could. They arent gonna help you keep your 17 year old truck on the road forever, and neither would any other company. Thats up to you.

Well "Blue" if u read my post I said that I brought it to Toyota when the vehicle was only 10 years old and Toyota didn't remedy the problem that they caused in the first place by selling me a vehicle with improper frame coating, not looking for anything unrealistic. Sorry you see it differently

They gave you an extended 15 year warranty on the frame. Have it coated by the dealer, then if it has a hole 10mm or larger by the 15 year mark you can get it replaced. Since the warranty is up, theres nothing theyre gonna do.

At the end of the day you have to take a little pride in what you drive and take a look underneath every now and then, especially since youre in NY where any vehicle (not just Taco's) will turn to dust in under 20 years if not taken care of. By taken care of I mean frequent washes in the winter, and ideally a yearly undercoating such as Krown or Fluid Film. The stuff Toyota sprays on is great for about a year or two until it dries out. The key to it working long term is to keep it wet and greasy by topcoating it with an oil coating every now and then. Unfortunetly Toyota does it as a one and done thing without top coating it later down the line, but at least they did something. Did GM do anything to the Colorados and Canyons that suffer from frame rot? No. Or did Chrysler offer any sort of warranty on the TJ Wranglers that decompose prematurely? No.

As messed up as it is, Toyota doesnt really care about taking care of people whose last vehicle payment to them was made in 2007 or so.

the good or bad news is a seemingly reputable used auto lot dealer can still sell (or try to) an old taco with a mess of holes underneath for $9998
    THAT!! is messed up...

I seen this beauty at the gas station. Any vehicle not just toyotas can rust apart just depends on how it was taking care of.

Does the Rav4 have a frame? I thought it was unibody. It's not like Tacoma frames are made from steel different than mild steel used for any vehicle. Thinner than back in the '60 & '70s, sure. Weight has been trimmed on everything. Glass is even thinner.

I believe they are unibody yeah...but just for curiosity sake I looked up "unibody rust" and apparently they aren't safe from the salt belt curse either, their chassis can get pretty rusty as well

My Father bought a '65 Impala that had holes in the floorboards by '68, I remember finding them as a child and telling him I could see the road, the next car was a '68 Coronet so I know the timelines correct even though memory is hazy.

    We've come a long way.
