    I have a 2003 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner (TRD) 3.4L 4x4 double cab.
The ignition switch has died and will no longer turn.
Ignition switch is in Dashboard on right side of Steering column, not in steering column itself.

The repair manual states to get it out you have to turn the ignition to the ACC position.
Of course this is not possible as it sits as it will not turn at all any more.

Have lubed it with WD 40 and nothing so tried cleaning it with with carb cleaner and again lubed with wd 40.
    Still no luck.

What do I have to do to get the ignition out?
    Please help.

I am above average back yard mechanic abilities, just need some direction on this no turn issue.

    Thanks in advance :))

Go to the dealer and get a new key cut.
Not traced. Cut from your vin.
Anytime I have a ign or lock cyl issue on an older vehicle, have a new non chipped el cheepo key cut to try.
90% of the time it is taken care of the issue.

You can look at your key and can tell if it's all rounded over and the cuts not crisp.
If you had a spare key you could try that but if you had a worn key traced then you have a " new worn key".
A lot cheaper to try then breaking a key cylinder if you don't have to.

New key cut at dealer from VIN did the job.

    Thanks Mike :)

    Your welcome.
Glad I could save you a bunch of grief.
Not fun drilling out a lock cylinder.
