Yesterday we noticed the area of our truck bed directly over the muffler was a abit warmer than before. I crawled underneath the truck and noticed that there is no heat shield attached to the bed over the muffler and it does look like something might be missing.

I hoping someone can someone post a picture of your 2.4L Single Cab from underneath so I can see if you have a heat shield there? If you dont have time to take a picture, maybe just confirm if you have a heat shield over the muffler or not? I have been on several Toyota part diagrams and cannot find any heat shield in that part of the truck.

    Thanks in advance!

I have never seen a heat shield above the muffler then I never saw a Toyota Truck fresh off the dealers lot either.

If there was one and it was in the way of changing the exhaust it most likely ended in the scrap pile. the first exhaust change .

Can you see where it might have been attached ?

The Cats have built in heat shields

Was your truck sitting idling for a long time that there was no air flow under the truck ?

Dont know if this helps but my 01 ext cab has heat shield over the muffler attached to bottom of bed, starts at front headboard and goes back about 18 ".
I installed new muffler and tail pipe yesterday is the reason i know.

Thanks for your quick reply. Cat is in tact with heat shields. It was not idling, we had just gotten to our destination after a 15 mile drive. Here is a picture of the bed just above the exhaust where I have circled what I think are the mounts for a heat shield.

Have you looked on the bed diagrams for the heat shield?

Toyota can be strange about where parts show up

I have and all it showed was the entire pick up box. Not even the tailgate was listed separate. Thanks

Maybe pull one off a part out from the south west USA.

Make one yourself or have it made.

You can message to sellers just not post.

It always helps to know where you are when looking for parts.
