I'd put a dollar on bad starter contacts.

It could be the lead going from the battery to the starter. I don’t know about the flashing lights but this happened to me in the middle of nowhere. Luckily I have a manual and was able to push start it.

It's the aftermarket alarm that's interrupting your starter. Look under your dash for a blade type fuse holder that's probably just dangling around. Pull that fuse, and it should allow your truck to start again. It's not going to be any fuses in the factory fuse block, so ignore those. You're looking for an inline fuse holder. Whoever owned the truck before you must have just taken the siren out and left the rest connected. When you replaced the battery, it probably took it out of valet mode and is preventing your truck from starting. It's definitely not going to be your starter.

Yeah based on how everything went down I'm inclined to believe it's not the starter. If the alarm thing doesn't turn anything up that will be my next go-to though. Thanks to everyone who's helped me so far, I really appreciate everybody's input. I'll update tomorrow if anything happens (good or bad).

I found and removed these 2 fuses under the dash. Both were inline, not in either box so I'm pretty sure their aftermarket.

I can't see anymore fuses under there, but no change in symptoms.

Any other possible solutions before I see about getting a professional? I banged on the starter and starter solenoid, no effect.

Those two fuses are way too big to be an alarm. Those are probably for an amp or something else you have installed in there. Did you happen to see a small black box under there that’s probably zip tied to the harnesses with a bunch of wires coming out of it? If there is, try unplugging it.

Yep, that solved it! She cranks right up now. Thanks to everyone who gave advice, espically jdmstuff. I'm really glad I'm not gonna be replacing a starter in the snow.

I have a similar issue. 2000 3.4L tacoma with manual transmission. Took my kids to a restaurant, came out and truck wouldn’t start. Turned the key and just got one loud click. Tried jumping it but it wouldn’t jump. I push/roll started it and got it home. I bought a new battery and terminals, put them in and the truck fired right up. It worked great for about a month, but now it is doing the exact same thing. Turn the key and it just clicks once. This time i put on a brand new starter, but still just one loud click. So now I have a brand new battery and starter and it wont start. I read through this thread and tried disconnecting the little black box. That did not work either.

I see you made your own thread, which is good. I think it's separate issues because mine did not click at all. I have no idea in yours but good luck!
