Hey all, I'm taking off the pan so i can get to the filter. Does that change the amount of fluid i need to put back in. This pdf says that says that a fill requires 2.2 quarts to fill. file:///C:/Users/39949/Downloads/Amsoil%20Recommendations.pdf lower down it says that the whole A340F transmission holds 10.7 quarts. So how much fluid should i get?

The filter is just a reusable wire mesh screen. I guess they make replacement filters, but I've never bothered. I suggest saving your time and just doing a few drain and fills. 3-4 qts at a time. Also if you did drop the pan, more than half of the fluid stays in the torque converter anyway. You'd only be doing a partial drain/fill anyway.

Not to mention needing (it's not a replaceable cork gasket) black silicone (FIPG) and hope you don't have a leak afterward.

What if there’s stuff stuck in wire mesh of the filter?

Yeah point taken. If there's lot of stuff then it was time well spent. Also if there's lot of stuff it might mean your trans if having problem or will soon. Anecdotal, but I've personally never seen enough stuff to bother cleaning out.

If the screen is clogged, you'll notice a hard shift or higher shift point if there's a blockage in pressure. Smell and check your transmission fluid color is the best indicator. I would say 90% of transmission just need a drain and top off.

Average Joe cause more issue after they finished. Cross thread the pan bolt, over tighten / not enough torque causing leak or topping off the fluid without checking causing insufficient fluid or over filled
