Hey, think I might be in the same boat. Couple questions.

Pretty sure I've seen all my symptoms posted.
-Truck idles fine, no issues there, but it seems to lag sometimes, not all the time, when I accelerate, just sounds like its struggling to get moving.
-I believe this started when I threw a 0420 code a few years ago and I've done so on and off for about two years now.
-I also have shit for mileage now when I used to get well over 20 mpg, now I get 14/17.

Yall think more in the neigborhood of bad TPS/MAF or cat. I pulled my second cat today and rear 02 sensor and they looked fine (can see through the cat without any blockage and the O2 sensor isn't all crudded up). Before I knew how easy it was to replace O2 sensors i had my front one replaced twice.

Well, I found that my problem is definitely related to water. I had thought that the brake issue previously mentioned might be it, but I drove through a puddle in the rain the other day and it started immediately again. Don't know if water can affect the TPS or if this means I have a different issue with my truck. I am also down to about 14mpg since this problem arose...I think I was getting at least 16 before. Looking forward to a solution.

Mine is water related for sure. Has anybody actually replaced the TPS yet? Or the entire throttle body?

i replaced mine on my 2.7 a couple months back once my symptoms got worse and made no difference as well as clean the throttle body. it has to be the mass air flow sensor not adjusting right

I replaced my MAF sensor a while ago and it did nothing. You only cleaned the throttle body though, right? Didn't replace it?

I spoke to a mechanic, who looked up the APPS and told me it's behind the dash, not in the throttle body. Therefore replacing the throttle body would not have any impact on the APPS. He ordered me a TPS from Toyota for $79. If everything works out, I'll try and get the part number and post it.

    Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor.

Came on the late 02-04 fly by wire throttle bodies. Some of the complaints folks are having match hp to a problem with the APPS. Supposedly is not replaceable and you must buy a complete throttle body at $1200-1400. If you have two throttle cables( a push pull system) then you do not have this and have no need to worry.

Ok, I may have spoken too soon about the TPS because Toyota is apparently telling my mechanic the same story. He had an aftermarket one, which of course was 3 pronged and won't fit. He test drove it this morning and guess what? It didn't fucking hesitate!!! He had a scanner on it while driving it and there was no break during the acceleration, but he's checking with his contact at Toyota for the resistance specs. Since it won't throw a code, maybe the resistance is off, which would help narrow it down to a sensor or electrical issue. I'll keep posting as or if I find out more today.

First post and offering parts for sale that are "only sold by themselves overseas"??? Hmmmm...don't think I will be the first one to try to buy one of these. Hope it is true that you can get them here but I am not holding my breath.

I actually bought a used throttle body with both sensors, but haven't had the time to install it. It cost me $300 at www.partsonnet.com . They'll replace the part if it doesn't work properly.
