    Heart broken.

2003 XtraCab 3.4l v6 4x4 5-speed manual, 110k miles. Hit some black ice and rolled over, no air bags deployed and walked away without a scratch.

Is it worth anything? Is anybody interested in parts?

Damn. That sucks. There are plenty of parts worth money in that thing. Take your time and part it out if it can’t be saved.

It’s a lot of labor, but someone looking to do a manual swap would love your ECU, transmission w/shifter and console bits, clutch start cancel button, clutch pedal (and associated cylinder& lines)… and so on.

someone would probably buy the bed and doors if not crunched. Rear flip out windows are worth some money too.

mainly, how much time and patience do you have to part it out?

I'm not an expert on insurance and I've never been in this situation myself, but what I've gathered from stories on the forums here...

If you have good insurance on the trucks, cross your fingers that you get a nice payout. There have been numerous stories here from the past few years of folks getting handsome checks for their totaled trucks.

If the insurance company totals your truck, you might have the option to buy it back from them. If you don't buy it back, it will likely go to auction. Even if the truck goes to auction, you might be able to snag some of your upgrade parts off it first. Those wheels would for sure be worth saving. You'll probably need to replace any parts you take, so if you're thinking of going that route keep an eye out for some cheap take-off wheels/tires to send off to auction with the truck.

Did you shut the engine off after the truck rolled, or did it "shut itself off"? If you shut it off it's probably good, and a low-mileage 5vz is worth money. If it shut itself off it might just be a very large paperweight now.

If you're patient and have the wherewithal and the parts are in good condition...

    - The wheels and tires are worth money to someone who wants to upgrade
    - The interior is worth money to someone with blown out seats
    - The chassis is worth money to someone who needs to replace a rusty one
    - The drivetrain is worth money to someone who wants to do a manual and/or 4wd swap
    - The engine is worth money to someone who has a high-mileage truck
    - If it's got an e-locker, the axle is worth money to someone who wants to upgrade from an open diff

A few thousand dollars in parts, but only if you can afford the time to find buyers for all of them.

If the frame is straight you could buy a donor truck and swap the cab and front clip. You would still have your truck and get more value.

    That sucks man
I experienced the same thing, you can do a partout and make between 7-10k depending on the condition of the truck.

Another option is get a 4x2 donor truck and swap the 4x4 components in, that way you avoid VIN issues with insurance/cab swap.

Wow! Sorry to hear! Good thing is that you were able to walk away. Your truck served its purpose to protect you. Everything else can be replaced.

    That is awful.
Just curious if you had collision insurance on a 2003.
I had a 1997 that I sold in 2021, but at the 20 year mark, the insurance company told me that collision would be dropped because of the truck value --with a corresponding policy cost reduction.
I was not sure what to think, and let it drop to liability and comprehensive (covering windshields).
This was not a primary vehicle for me, so it was not a huge deal and I did not follow-up to understand the insurance companies position.
This was "Electric Insurance", covering GE employees, with *usually* much better and more comprehensive insurance policies for less money.

Not sure about OP but I have comp and collision coverage on my 02 Tacoma. It's still relatively cheap and keeps me from stroking a check on my own to replace my truck if the worst happens to it.

Aw, crap. Glad you’re OK, and d*mned sorry about your truck.

I’m guessing it’s an oak interior, not charcoal, yes?

That really blows. I've had one (maybe two now) vehicles that Ive had an emotional attachment to. The first one was totaled and if you are like me you are going to try and use every reason to put Humpty Dumpty back together again. One thing first: If the frame is tweaked and you are not sure you can get a new absolutely perfect replacement, then forget it. Save yourself a lot of grief and either take the insurance payout or buy it back and part it out. If the frame is not bent or tweaked in any way, then I would say there's a chance you could get your baby back rolling down the road. I had a 1st Gen 2004 XtraCab (2WD) and if it was 4WD I'd still have it. In some ways I liked it more than my 3rd Gen. The size for one. Good luck with whatever you decide.
