I've done some reading/searching on these forums, but do not have a clear answer to my question.
I want to add cruise to my 2004 Tacoma, SR5 4Cyl 5 speed (4x4) I have read I have throttle by wire and my truck is already pre-wired for cruise.

What parts do I need to add cruise to my truck?

YES ITS ALL THERE, YOU JUST HAVE TO REMOVE THE AIR BAG AND SCREW THE SWITCH INTO PLACE, THEN PLUG THE CC SWITCH IN ON THE STEERING WHEEL HARNESS BUT YOU WILL NEED TO CAREFULLY MEASURE AND CUT THE HOLE FOR IT IN THE SIDE OF YOUR STEERING WHEEL

    damn caps lock :frusty:

anyway the switch is pricey to buy new but you can find then used on ebay.

my steering wheel was split so I just bought the steering wheel with a switch already in it (mine came from a 03 Toyota Sequoia) but just check the part number when searching for one or look for a leather steering wheel if you want to upgrade yours.

it costs anywhere from $100-$150 at the dealer and the cc switch part number is 84630-0C010

this is the best place online to get parts cheaper http://www.toyotaonlineparts.com/oe-toyota/846300c010

I do suggest you buy the 3 little mounting screws from the dealership because if they are too long they will stick out the back of the wheel and they will hit the steering wheel dash cover and interfere with the steering wheel plus them buggers are small and you don't want to use the wrong size screw and break the plastic or you will need to replace the whole bracket that holds the cc and blinker switches

remove the air bag? is that easy to do?

Mine being a manual trans, does that make a difference?

You'll need the cruise control computer, the actuator and cable, brake and clutch switches, you might check your fuse box for fuses/relays too. Good luck.

I thought that was only needed for pre throttle by wire Tacoma's? I have a 2004.

Your right I was thinking cable throttle not fly by wire.

Relatively easy. You'll need a Torx (#25 I think) bit.

Ok, that's good to hear, air bags make me nervous...

I figure as much as I drive, 1 speeding ticket will be more than installing cruise on my Tacoma.

Before I order, that part number will work With my manual transmission?
Under part notes it states floor shift with tilt wheel. I have a tilt wheel, but floor shift, not sure if they are referring to the auto shifter on floor, or what?

Dang girl, you gonna make me work? It was way back in 2006, so not sure how relevant it'll be, but I'll check my file folder and see if I can find the invoice.

JUST POP THE LITTLE PLUGS OUT ON EACH SIDE OF THE STEERING WHEEL THEN UNSCREW THE ONE SCREW ON EACH SIDE

    damn caps lock again lol

the airbag screws stay in place with little tabs so just unscrew until completely loose and then lift off and unplug the airbag, then unscrew and pull off the steering wheel so you can put in on a bench to measure and cut out the hole.

just be sure to disconnect the battery before you take the airbag out to avoid any chance of accidental discharge

its a very easy straight forward job that is no harder then just replacing a fan belt, the only hard/scary part is making sure you cut a hole in the right spot

Good, I just replaced all 3 fan belts, arms are still scrapped up from that.

Still want to call the customer service line to make sure it'll work with my manual transmission.

The Canadian parts web site shows it fitting manual transmission. Ordered. Now to see if it'll work without some other part I may or may not need.
