Has anyone had any success with Toyota assisting in replacing a rotted out frame after 2015? My son's Tacoma just went in to get oiled as it does every year and the mechanic pointed out that the frame is rotted out on both side at the front. Went to the dealer who told me too bad, nothing we can do.

You have 15 years from the date of production of your truck. The frame must have been serviced in that time frame and you must also be in a qualified region. You should also contact corporate about the issue.

Suspension, 33s, some armor... Rust, Gray wire and 2Low, and more. T4r is stock.
It should have 15 year coverage assuming it was taken in for the required inspections and such. Contact Toyota with your VIN, they can look it up. It is either still covered or it is not. Form my experience and what I've heard from others Toyota won't budge if it is no longer covered. Good Luck!

Thanks, we have only owned it for 2 years, and no rust prior to that, the previous owner had it crowned yearly as well, the only issue seems to be that it wasn't done at Toyota. Therefore according to one service manager, Toyota has not serviced it regularly so Toyota has not made any money on it so it would not qualify for the even a good will gesture. I was also advised that there was never a recall for my 2004 for the frame.

    What year is his truck?

To be clear, this was never a recall, but a warranty enhancement (extended warranty on the frame, model years 2001-2004, for 15 years from the vehicle "in service" date) on the frame as part of a service campaign for trucks in certain cold weather states (CT, DE, IL, IN, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, VA, VT, WI, WV - no mention of Canada in my notice, so your rights may vary), provided the owner had preventative maintenance (undercoating) preformed by Toyota before the service deadline back in the 2010-2011 era (2012 in NY).

No other work by Toyota would make any difference to the warranty. My 2001 never saw the dealer's service center until it went in for the required undercoating and came out with a new frame. Your 2004 would be covered to 2019 if it was undercoated by Toyota before the deadline if in a qualifying location.

I have no idea How the frame Warranty works in Canada

Was Canada even a part of the extended warranty,.

Then if it was but not sprayed with the Undercoating by Toyota most likely out of Luck

Toyota is holding firm to the warranty requirements. A few cases have been reported here that were approved where there were extenuating circumstances, but many others were not due to a prior owner not following through with the inspection/undercoating.

My '03 is covered under the warranty, and the original frame keeps passing inspection. So there is hope.

Toyota Canada is useless to talk to. This Crc spray is such bs, there is an obvious issue with the corrosion resistance of these frames and obviously the crc coating did diddly squat as they are replacing 1000's of frames on these trucks. If you look at my frame no half way intelligent person would conclude that If it was treated by Toyota back in 2011 it would be hunky dory. I hope they get sued and have to do what's right for the consumer.
They wouldn't even look at my pictures of my frame to say ya you can hide a cat inside the hole in my frame, so we should help this loyal costumer out in SOME way.

I have a 2016 4Runner trail edition and it'll be the last Toyota ever to sit in my driveway.

Did the Canadian program start before the US program? You mentioned yours was coated back in '07. I didn't get the notice on my '01 until 2010 or so. I had two older ('97 and "00) tacomas bought back before that time, and I used some of the money to buy the '01 in 2008 or so. I could be wrong on the exact dates as I don't have the info in front of me.

Agree the coating is useless. Nearly none of it is still on my frame.

A little excessive, when their is an issue it needs to first be admitted and second fixed.

If this issue was with a dodge/ford/gm everyone would be saying what Total pieces of shit they are.

My mechanic says he has seen a few Dodge PU frames bend on the lift, and Chrysler did nothing about them.

Toyota may have had the right intentions, but the execution, including the undercoating requirement, leaves something to be desired. One could argue that the undercoating, however ineffective, served its purpose by limiting their liability to smaller group of owners (now on record with Toyota corporate via the required dealer provided service). Toyota can afford better attorneys than owners can, not to mention the accountants to calculate the fiscal risk of the extended warranty vs potential legal liability of doing nothing. And our Tacomas are aging out of the extended warranty.

This is purely my speculation. Full disclosure; I have benefited three time by this warranty. Toyota been very very good to me. But they could do better for the rest of the Tacoma family.

    I agree 100%

Toyota I'm guessing paid you 40k plus for the 2 tacomas they bought back from you, as well as a new frame on your newer Tacoma.

I knew about the frame issue, mine was pretty solid when I bought it, but must have been just ready to break out I never dreamt that the frame would become this rotten, I don't mind patching a few spots, but when the steel is disinigrating from under the truck it's a lot to handle and keep a safe truck on the road.

That's a bit high. The buy backs were about 25K total, and the frame I am told was valued at about 10K installed. The invoice did not have a price if I recall correctly. I let all that paperwork go with the truck when I sold it. Should have kept it and sold the '03. At least it would have had a frame that should have lasted well beyond 2018, which is when my '03 warranty ends.

No doubt I was in the right place at the right time, and was one lucky SOB.
