That means youv'e got condensate in your AC unit and mildew/mold is growing in your ducts etc. You can buy some stuff to put in your air intake to take care of it.

Frigi-Fresh is what you want. Spray it in the intake cowl on the outside while the AC runs. I don't think it sells in any stores, I've only seen it online. Google for various vendors.

x2 We use it at work but BG is not sold in your everyday retail stores, mostly professional shops. But it works awesome, it kills the bacteria that's creating the bad odor and it smells good.

Some mice built a nest in my A/C blower and it took forever to get the smell out. I used a shop vac to get the mice dropping out of the blower housing and ran some spray air fresher through the intake. Those mice were like drunk from spinning around in the blower. Used some stainless steel wool stuffed in the opening by hood hinges to keep them out.
    Quick google on frigi-fresh yielded

I used the tip from the other site that I mentioned above and sprayed some clorox based shower cleaner in the cowl vents with the ac running and the out side vents open and after two attempts I think it took the smell out.

    Fish,
Here is what I used and where I sprayed it. If you run you a/c blower on high and outside air open( yellow light on), you can feel the air being pulled in at the cowl vent. I got the Shower Cleaner at Dollar General and it also works like a champ on shower mildew. Since your are a fellow Florida cracker, you know about the black mold.

after you've cleaned your ac unit out, get in the habit turning the ac off and letting the fan run for a min before shutting the truck off, that will help stop the problem from reoccurring.

+1 Great advice. I've been doing this for years with all of my vehicles and I never get mildew smell.
