Just returned to my roots with a new to me 1st gen Tacoma!
My first new vehicle was a 1986 Toyota 4x4. Almost literally drove the wheels of it, wrecked it, and swapped the engine into a salvaged 1988 Four Runner. Drove it another 100k miles until the transmission got a mind of its own. Sold it to a friend for a hunting truck, he camo’d it and it still hasn’t stopped.

Anyway, as it always happens, I wasn’t looking and found a 2004 ext 4x4 V6 manual with only 40k miles for $14k!
It looks new inside and out, drives new, etc. However - from northern Illinois, lots of salt rot underneath. Body underneath is still pristine. Nothing so scary that I would run from, but will need some tlc.
More on that later I’m sure , just taking a minute to explain how I found the forum. Great to be here!
    Tim
