Hey everyone I'm new here and this maybe answered somewhere else but I could not find it.
I just bought a 2004 Tacoma and the knob that controls where the heat / AC goes (floor, dash, defrost) is not working. Can someone please tell me where to start to fix this problem.

when you move the knob to the other positions do you "hear" anything moving? you can keep the fan off for this so no ambient noise. you should hear the selections when you turn the knob. if not could be a bad motor or connection somewhere.

I have seen debri fall in ducts and prevent them from moving. (pens and pencils falling thru defrost ducts)

I have a 2002. The selector knob never really worked from day 1. It just comes out of whatever ports it feels like.

    No, its not cracked.
I bought the truck new in 2001.
Whatever setting you put it on, it always just came out of them all. Been like that since day 1. Just never bothered me enough to have it looked at.
