    Hi Tacomaworld

I wanted to get some input on what a fair price would be for my 2004 2.7L manual transmission 4x4 xtracab tacoma. I bought the truck some years ago (at 34k miles) with the intention of doing some mods and taking it out off roading in TX. I had to relocate soon after getting it and have been moving the past few years due to work so I left my truck behind in TX.

I have decided it is best to let someone else enjoy this excellent truck as I simply don't have the time to anymore. To be honest, I am not too sure what a fair price would be for a sample like this given the condition. I saw trucks on cars in the 14-15k range with 150k+ miles and 16-18k for low mileage ones but not sure if there is a market for these nowadays at those prices.

It has 39k miles and is in excellent shape inside-out with no rust on the frame. No modifications other than KO2s on 2nd gen wheels and 0.75" spacers all around. Any input is appreciated

I would start at $20,000 and go from there. The 20k mark is hard to breach with most buyers and the xtra cab/4cyl/no-elocker will be a drawback for some.
Ebay or a more high-end auction sight may be your best bet. I just saw a listing for a 1998 4runner with less than 10,000 miles sell for $28,000 but who knows if the winning bidder actually paid or not

    Good luck with your sale

Nice truck, start High, you can always come down, but if it was me, I'd keep it. Really nice 1st gen trucks are getting hard to find, and yours is definitely a REALLY nice one.

These trucks have a very regional price.

It helps to know where you live.

It is worth what ever someone in Tacoma Lust can pay

Much to clean for me that scares me

Thank you all for your replies, it is great input and gives me some perspective

@jmferg Which auction sites would you recommend?I have only seen some trucks from the forum listed on BAT but that is it.

@CrippledOldMan thanks, I've thought about it but it's just not getting the use it should

@Wyoming09 The "regional price" was a question I had thought about before. I am currently living in OR (Portland), but as I said I left the truck in TX (El Paso - southwest TX). I was debating whether it would be worth bringing the truck up here over the holidays and whether the PNW would be a better market for it. I honestly don't see that many trucks here in OR, whereas TX is definitely a state that loves pick up trucks.

Beautiful truck! I wouldn't take anything less than $15k for that and would not be surprised if it went for more. But honestly I think you should keep it.

Try BaT, but be prepared for them to be tough on the reserve, and make sure the truck is spotless. If there are any "stories" or deferred maintenance, then you will not get top top dollar on that site.

If you move it to PNW, then you will basically eliminate the east coast buyers. I have had a very diffucult time getting vehicles out of that area. And it is extra costly to do so.

Texas is central (duh) and haulers are easy to find.

I'd venture a guess and say you're somewhere between 15 and 20. Depending on the maintenance. And, frankly, the frame isn't as clean as I'd want to see. But the odo is a big deal. As is the 5 speed and larger cab. 2.7 vs 3.4 is a non issue when it comes to high $$ first gens, imo.

    $0.02

EDIT: If I didn't already own basically the same truck with much lower miles, you'd have a PM with an offer from me stead of this post.

Thanks everyone for the input, I really appreciate it. I will inquire with BaT to see what their conditions are.

Last question, I know this is not a classic car, but do you see their value holding in the future with less inventory available in this condition?

    I think so.

Especially due to limited quantities of high quality examples.
And an aesthetically appealing design, both cosmetics and capabilities.

IMO, it's gotta be 4WD and a stick shift. And to a slightly lesser degree, extended cab.

    But who knows?

I've placed a small bet on the future values with my '03.
    Signed,

    A damn fine truck!

Put it up for sale for $12k

If no one bites, it's either worth less (probably will be), or yo did reach the right buyer. Either lower your price or reach a wider audience.

If you get like 20 calls, it's worth more than that, don't be afraid to start a bidding war.

I’d say 14,00$ or $13,500 . Watching BAT a lot I think it be your best bet to get anything higher

If it were a quad cab, I'd go for 20k. Since it's ecab, I'd ask $16K and see what happens. Damn fine truck.

You're either insane, or are related to the crowned prince of Saudi Arabia and have tons of money to burn.

I paid $24k for my 2004 TRD doublecab 15 years ago. You can get a 2010 4x4 access cab for like 15k. Hell, you can get a 2015 double cab for just over $20k.

I love my 1st (best) gen, and these are great trucks. These things hold their value, but not THAT well, lol

Like I said, OP should start at 12 and if there's a bunch of people bidding on it, raise the price.

@jbrandt I think you'd be surprised how desirable the first gen trucks are...
