People choose however they want to go about selling it. My general advice for people going to places like Craigslist or whatever is to just pick a price they want to get for it. Be it high or low (as far as what the market will bare, it doesn't really matter). If you put an ad up on CL for $2, no one will force you you sell it for $2, you can take the ad down and put it back up for $40 if you wanted.

If there is enough interest to warrant a bidding war, so be it. It's a pretty routine thing to tell a potential buyer that you have multiple offers, it's up to the buyer if you want to toss yout hat in the ring, too. It's your loss as the buyer if that's not a game you want to play.

When I sold my 1st gen turbo 4Runner, I put it up for $2k with a blown motor (300k+ miles). I had two calls within a day. First guy that came by offered be $1800 at first. I told him that I still had another guy coming by later to look at it. He then offered me full price if I'd sell to him right now. I probably COULD have waited for the other guy, and pit them against each other and see who wanted it more, but I was lazy and didn't want to be a used car salesman or have the 2nd guy flake anyway, so I took the 2k, and in less than an hour the truck was gone, and I was at the local motorcycle dealer looking at dirtbikes. :D

I think $12-15k is reasonable seeing how the market is? However for me I wouldn’t pay $15-20k for an old truck unless it’s going to be a weekend/show vehicle. For daily driver and off road use you’re just wasting your money.

That truck to me is worth at least $10k. Again that’s what it’s worth to me. Everyone worth on an item will be different.

Good luck and let us know what you end up getting.

I’m not shopping so I have no interest here. But I do think the high quotes here over $15k are not considering this truck has sat for some time and all the hoses are now questionable and all the fluids are likely to have settled/separated/congealed. I wouldn’t consider this truck to be legitimately road worthy until the whole thing has been gone through by somebody that knows about things like since the hood hasn’t been opened in a long time, the acid vapor from the battery tends to corrode/age electrical and rubber including the weatherpack fittings, hoses, and especially all the electrical tape Toyota used to assemble harnesses and for wire routing etc. I think the over $15k quotes neglect a few thousand of catch up work that should be done on it.
