I am looking for a 2004 Toyota Tacoma rear hatch in black color.

    Must be in decent condition

Will pay fair $ for the right part

    Thanks

Posting a pic of what you are looking for (in any color) would be helpful. Because no Tacoma part is called a 'hatch'.

You might also alter your thread title to include WTB

My guess is the covers under the extra cab seats?

Or the glass for a Camper shell?

I can tell you right now that the paint won't be a "perfect" match like many of the reviews claim. No idea how well they fit.

The OEM tailgates are definitely getting rare. There is a 0% chance you will find a first generation Tacoma in a salvage yard with a good tailgate.

Thanks everyone for your input. After comparing various option and pricing, I am going to have the tailgate fixed and painted by a VG body man local to me.

Used units are $500 plus, and need to be painted anyway, might as well fix mine which is not in terrible shape.

    Thanks and stay well

    Tasteful modifications :)
There’s 2 in my junkyard where I live with oem tailgates, only a few dings now very much! It’s also a pretty low key junkyard where not many people go

After comparing various options, I purchased the ebay unit. It arrived packaged nicely, and I am impressed with quality of the unit. it is heavy gauge (made in Taiwan).

So Instead of spending $ on fixing the old one, I can replace it with a unblemished unit. Will have it painted factory color, plus a few dings I have here and there.

How did that eBay tailgate end up fitting? Did you have it painted by them or painted locally?

    Still in the box.

Waiting to buy a 2021 RAV4 (another long story), so I can take the Tacoma to the body shop and have them paint and replace it.

The unit is well built (Taiwan) and looks sturdy.

Ah man, ok thanks for the update. Interested to hear how the fitment is. So they didn't paint it for you? The ad seems to imply they will paint it a factor color

Will know about the fitment when it is installed by a pro body-man.

As mentioned, it is very well built piece. Ebay ratings are VG.

I did not have it painted, as I have new front bumper pieces and will have both painted at the same time.......the right way.

Love my Tacoma, 115K miles and still ride like a tank with zero rattles or issues. Unlike the Cadillac's and Lincolns that needed shocks at 10K miles, and fell apart at 50-60K miles (most of them).

    Have a pleasant night
