Hey guys I'm new here but have been reading the forums for a while. I couldn't find anything on the Internet about the problem I'm having. I have a 04 ext cab v6 5 speed that will go into 4 low all day but will not go into 4 high. When I pull the transfer stick back it doesn't click into position like it does for 2 high and 4 low. The guy I bought the truck from said he had the problem started after he pulled everything to change the clutch and said the forks were off but never worried about it because he just used 4 low when needed. I took the top plate off and check everything out and the 2 forked shafts look good and both move freely. Am I missing something? I moved the forks with a screw driver then reinserted the shifter but no matter what it won't click when pulled into 4 high. It's loose like neutral. Any help would be appreciated.

Anyone have any info that might help? When I put it into 4 high it does lock the front drives shaft and I can't turn it by hand but no green light on dash like 4 low.

A guess here but i belive when he did the clutch he may have messesd up the shifter . you will have to pull the shifter again to double check that the transfer case is actuall in nuetral when it says its in nuetral

Yes I have the J shifter. I don't get any green light in 4 high not even blinking but 4 low engages everytime.
Gearcruncher- when I put the transfer case in neutral the truck will not move when the transmission is in gear so I'm assuming it is going into neutral when put there. I thought about the ADD actuator at the front diff but if it was messed up it wouldn't work on 4 low correct? That thing looks like it would be tough to remove.

I read somewhere about a switch or sensor on the drivers side that sometimes gets dirty could this cause the problem?
