There is so much wrong with this video on so many levels from him calling it "Red Devil" (lol), to him using a 4 cylinder bottle when he should of used the larger bottle for V6 and V8, and finally him using multiple sealers for a Head Gasket failure when you can clearly see in the video that it's his intake manifold gasket that is leaking...DON'T BE THIS GUY!!

Thanks Tor. That makes total sense.

For the Subaru engine one of Subaru gurus has stated the HG going bad on the driver's side is a bit more exotic. It goes something like this: Battery on driver's side near front >> Battery outgasses from fill caps >> Radiator overflow tank also in front near battery >> A weakly-sealed overflow tank takes in some of the gasses and changes the pH of the coolant to more acidic over time >> A more acidic coolant eats away at the HG/block sealing interface

I have a 68 C10 that came with wire nuts everywhere. I have since rewired. People are morons. Luckily the PO of my Tacoma left it alone.

The head gasket failed on my 2005 V6 Tacoma on Friday the 28th of December as well! 147k miles! $3250 out the door with a new water pump the following Thursday. I can't really complain though, drove it for 8 years and only had to do maintenance on it.

Damn. Nothing like starting off the new year with a big repair bill. Guess they're all blowing now. This is the 4th one I've heard of past 2 weeks. Which oil did they put in after the repair? For some reason they put 0w-20 in mine.

Yeah, $3250 is about 2/3 of the initial delivery cost for my first kid due this spring. I was just starting to feel like I could pull it off without too much debt. They put 5w-30 full synthetic in. 0w-20 seems pretty light, especially for NC.... How does it run?

It runs well, just didn't make any sense to me. All the bulletins and the engine oil cap say 5w-30. Didn't know if it was a precaution given the new head gasket or something. Service manager said it was ok to either keep using 0w-20 or go back to 5w-30.

I only know what my handy dandy repair manual tells me and I'm not much smarter than my dog so I'd trust what the service manager said. Hopefully we all run right up to 250k miles with no other issues!
Time to make the donuts.... or whatever it is I pretend to do in exchange for money.
    Be Well!
