Thought I'd share my first oil change's oil report on my 2005 about 3,300 miles after the headgasket repair. Elevated aluminum and iron levels were noted in the comments below causing me some concern. I think I'll give it another 3-6k and send in another sample to see if anything changes.

    Comments from Blackstone:
Potassium and sodium are markers for coolant contamination, and the low levels clearly show the new head gasket is keeping coolant out of the oil system. Aluminum, iron, and silicon are elevated, though. Maybe the metals are from parts wearing in after the engine was buttoned back up, and silicon could be from harmless sealers used during repair. Or, silicon could be abrasive dirt, and aluminum/iron could show piston/steel wear. Check for air intake leaks in case of dirt contamination, and check back in 3K miles. The viscosity and flashpoint readings aren't cautionary.

Your viscosity is low and flashpoint is high... Could you have fuel diluting the oil? That would increase internal wear. There arent any new internal mechanical parts to wear or break in after a hg change so that couldn't be it. What exactly did Blackstone say?

All the comments from Blackstone are in the original post. They said the viscosity and flashpoint values were not cautionary. Trace fuel was found in the oil, which 100% could have been me messing with the fuel injectors on install (had to replace one after cleaning). I’m thinking leftover coolant/ crud on or in the pistons / cylinders caused some additional wear. It’s not using much oil in the 3,000 miles (I added 200-300mL during a road trip to top it off) so I’m not too concerned, we’ll see!

New chains or any other fresh components to wear as they break in?
