My '05 US (Florida) Tacoma, which has been registered in New Brunswick, Canada for the past 6 years is going in for the frame inspection next Monday, March 11. My dealer said that since it was a US truck, Toyota wouldn't cover it in the campaign in Canada. I said, well I'll just take it to a local dealer in Maine, and he said that US dealers wouldn't honor warranty or recall work on trucks now registered in Canada. He also said that the frame replacement campaign wasn't covering southern states Tacomas. I told him the campaign has been expanded to all 50 states. He looked uncomfortable, gave me an awkward smile, and said he would look into it and let me know either way if it is covered or not on Monday. I think he just doesn't know his stuff, or is just reluctant to do the work for whatever reason.

Staying positive, hoping for the best. I'll go to another Toyota dealer if he doesn't help me out. I suspect Toyota will cover it if I talk to the right people.

They looked at my frame today and said it was ok. They booked an appointment on March 29 to have the frame coated with something. The story I got was that the Canadian Tacomas campaign goes until the end of November, 2016, and he thinks the American Tacomas campaign is done at the end of March. I can't say if that information is accurate or not, but I would advise that you get your Tacoma frame inspected before the end of this month - asap. good luck!

I live in NB and the campaign on my 2008 is good until December 31st, 2016. I have already had a prelook and they said it's not bad enough to fail, I disagree as it has major rust as far as I'm concerned. I'm holding out as long as I can!

I debated holding out till the last second, but just my luck I would just add more corrosion to the frame, thus shorting it's life, but still passing. I decided to stop the corrosion as soon as possible, doing it while the temperature was optimal for it to cure quickly/properly (doing it while it's cold would take forever and come off while it's wet with snow/rain). I also did it early. knowing they would be swamped at the end and may hurry doing it, giving the job less attention.

2010 DCLB. I know I have a ten year gap to claim a new frame but do they apply some of that corrosion stuff first then go with the frame replacement?

I'm half contemplating not rust protecting everything this winter so I can get a new frame, just want to know what my options are. Frame isn't that bad
