I had some free time this weekend and wanted to clear up another fundamental part, and in my opinion the most annoying part of a retrofit: the wire harness.

Let's start with a simple schematic of how everything laid out on the truck:

    2i6l0rq_ca91da05ad35be02566c83fa6b4f48b6bf746719.jpg

    Tools Required:
10mm Socket (deep well) / wrench
    12mm Socket / wrench
    Black Zip Ties (8" ideally)

    1) The first step is to mount up the MotoControl box on the battery tie down. This takes the 10mm socket to loosen. Then, bend the box's bracket over flat as pictured. Then, re-tighten the 10mm nut after the box is installed.

    2jayf0h_2d2b61a9b00120c727975bab656697ef4ad461a1.jpg

    2) The power for the harness comes from the positive terminal of the battery. Route the wire around the right side of the battery and up onto the terminal as shown. This terminal bolt requires a 12mm socket.

    dnbmac_83254bdececa2117fb89da73fc8f7c7b077cbc80.jpg

    3) In doing this, I like to route the power wire (and the ballast wiring) through the OEM wire stay as shown.

    vfw114_7f8d97aa4fcf01324a5fa9c14092295d0a87e041.jpg

    4) The passenger ground can be added atop the stock ground where the battery bolts to the chassis. This requires the 10mm socket.

    2j1oa6u_2c842443c37d839bfcb8f1808a74f189b9d27a74.jpg

    5) The trigger for the harness is the factory bulb connector on the driver's side. NOTE: The passenger side bulb connector is not used and can be tucked away.

    6gwwzt_a2bb4b732823541c2ca4eda0477e7b8e96db4d72.jpg

    6) Route the long wiring for the passenger side through the radiator support panel and zip tie to it as shown.

    14mtljd_8103d4aa6fac847b9b8cec2eb784cf2e241dbb41.jpg

    7) The factory ground on the passenger side is a good spot to ground the ballast connector on that side as shown. This requires a 10mm socket.

Hope this helps clarify the process. Let me know if there are any questions!

Sweet! Gonna do this during my spring break. Hopefully the new ground points will help my flickering

I find a cleaner install is to pop off the 5 plastic rivets and install the harness under it above the fan shroud

Hey Andrew, where did you mount the ballasts? I've routed my wires but having a hard time finding a proper spot to put the ballasts on both sides. I've got a 2014 DCSB Sport

I mounted mine high on the sides, basically where Andrew placed it in the first diagram. I can take some pictures tomorrow if it doesn't rain.

Would LOVE some photos. If you used holes and added screws instead of existing screws already in the truck would love to know what size to use if you know the answer

Here is it on my drivers side and passenger side. You can hardly see the passenger one but it sits behind the windshield wiper reservoir. I didn't use any bolts, just industrial strength Velcro.

It used to work well in Denver. I have added an amp and speakers previously. Probably a combination of the two added electrical components.

I have a problem with my setup. Low beams stopped working so i thought the bulbs burned out. Got new ones and installed but still wouldnt work so i thought it was the control box so changed that with a new one. That didnt work either. High beams work if i plug that connection into the ballast. Dont know what else to do. I have it setup the way diagramed.
