If they both stopped working, it's not a ground as there are two. It's something on the power feed to the relays. I would try to track down the loss of voltage on that line that goes to the stock H4 bulb connector.

i installed my mini D2S 3.0 kit exactly how you have it layed out everything works great except my low beams no longer turn off via the stalk switch, they turn on as soon as the truck cranks, also now my fogs stay on when i turn on my high beams(which i like). im worried about the life of my hids and i would really like to have the option to turn them off when i choose. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks,Bryn

It oddly doesn't sound like the harness. I would use a voltmeter to see if the stock headlight connector is giving the harness 12V+ whenever the vehicle is running.

Factory wiring is doing it then from what I see there. I think the factory headlight relay is dead or bad. Two things:

    1) if you unplug the input of our harness and turn the vehicle on again, do the lights shut off immediately?
    2) did you do any fog light mods?

when i unplug the harness and plug it back the drivers side goes off but the passenger stays on. As well when i turn the stalk on and back off they both stay on.
i did install "more expensive" fog bulbs but no wiring or relay etc mods.

It's definitely something on the stock wiring side like the headlight relay in that case. :(

Hey Andrew. I installed a morimoto bi xenon kit. The problem is that I used a slim cubby kit and i don't have brights anymore. I need a adapter that will make I to where I can turn my brights on and it moves the solenoid inside the projector to turn on my brights without affecting my lights.

Interesting thing on my install - the DTRL function was not there any more on initial install.
    • Plugged the factor headlights back into the h4 plugs, and the DTRLs worked
    • went back to the morimoto setup, and no DTRL
    • Tried resistors in the passenger headlight connector to simulate a bulb - no DTRL
    • checked all the grounds and had direct shorts to the battery ground
    • triple checked all connections - still no DTRL
    • temporarily gave up
    • ~36hrs later - DTRLs work ????

Thats odd, considering the motocontrol does nothing to DTRLs

All I can figure is reduced resistance in the light circuit or current flow through the ground of the lights.
I haven't gotten the wiring diagram yet, but I think I will to try and figure it out.

Definitely going to check the wiring thus weekend - fogs are no longer working now.

I do have the fogs triggered off of the running lights vs low beams, so maybe there is something in that...

Hate to revive a dead thread, but has anyone also installed the Morimoto XC Halos (with the Color Changer) along with their HID harness like TRSAndrew has his routed in this guide? Looking for ideas for when I attempt mine, but using this guide as my groundwork plan. Thanks!

I rather you revive a dead thread than you start a new one. Anyways, I haven't installed their XC specifically but led concepts on someomes tacoma. What your question??

What I was wondering was would it be okay if I ran the wires for the halos directly next to my wires for the projectors, or is there a more efficient method?

Absolutely! I've done a few sets so far and not one of them had any problems. I prefer to run them next to projector wires for the clean look

Gotcha! Where did you find the best place to put the boxes for the LED controllers (color changer and the led driver)?
