I put the led driver near the fenders where its dry and out of sight. I put the led controller near the foot area inside the cab. The controller has a range somewhere between 20-40m (dont remember the exact length). You can put the controller anywhere you want as long as it dry.

Does the controller work good inside of the cab? And what do you have the LED controller wired into? I guessed that I could run the test lead into a wire such as my parking lights as my hot wire and run the ground into another factory ground.

Does anyone know of a sure way of knowing if a ballast / motocontrol is bad? I have yet to get either bulb to fire and I'm running out of ideas. I don't have one known working light to do any swapping as I saw mentioned here.

I bought 2x50w ballasts, motocontrol and some 5000/6000k bulbs.

I have tested that power is getting to the motocontrol -> ballast cord (12v).
I have confirmed voltage from the H4 plug (also plugged in a factory light to make sure it fired).
I'm using the same grounds as described in this thread. I have LED's grounded to one of them and they work fine.
I had the high + low mod but I removed that shortly after the HID install and remember I had the mod.
I plugged in one 6000k light not in the housing (i didn't touch the bulb) nothing.

I may pull the setup out of the truck and try it inside with a 12v deep cycle battery from my solar bank if that might be an easier way to troubleshoot. I was so excited and am now pretty bummed out.

    Ideas?

I flipped the connector on the ballasts and I have light lol. I found this out while testing... I was using direct battery +/- wires directly to the factory harness adapter and then the ballasts. Though hell why not flip the polarity on the ballast... and she shines. Cheers.

Flip the polarity on the ballast? It should clip in one way

There is a larger notch on the top which is how I assumed they connect. I noticed on the underside there is a smaller notch. It still holds them secure flipped around.
I am using Zenex 50w ballasts.

I'd like to jump to and ask a question... Just installed my lights and very simple install, but I don't get any light from either High or Low on either side of the truck.
When I turn the stalk i get the noise from the light shrouds, but nothing lights up, not even a flicker.

I've routed the Morimoto harness and igniters like the diagram shows and have used the factory grounds as well.
Could this be a bad relay pack or something else?

    Thanks.

If you're using Zenex 50w ballasts like I am ... I had to flip the input from the motocontrol to the ballasts. My issue was the same as yours.

Hello. I just completed install of a set of retrofit headlights on my 08 tacoma using TRS morimoto h4 motocontrol harness. Struggled a lil bit due to my total newbness but all seemed to go well. When I went to turn them on only the driver side works, the passenger side has nothing. Also there are no turn signals in the front at all, and the tail light turn signals blink really fast. Any ideas? Did I mess something up? Did I miss something? Am I just new? Lol.....please help.
EDIT: OK got both lights working but still no parking lights (or whatever) still no blinkers in front, still blinks fast in rear.....?

I just installed a wiring harness and my high beams won’t activate, but my low beams are on. Any troubleshooting recommendations?

Were you able to bench test the high beam relays before installing? Are both headlights not activating the high beams?

You won't have any issues if you do everything correctly. My retrofits have been in for years now and I have been extremely happy. My retrofit actually is probably my favorite mod on my whole truck and gives you the ability to truly customize a vehicle and make it unique. As for the "brights" issue 2 posts above from a year ago, you just have to make sure you plug in the control wires to the high beam solenoid and that they are plugged in tight and clicked in. If you have any technical install questions don't be afraid to ask via PM or contact TRS they are very helpful and will guide you in the right direction. They also have a great discount for Tacomaworld members. Do not be deterred.

Well just finished up my build.... not the happiest with it but I ran out of time until tomorrow. My cutoff is bad, my sealing didn’t go as I expected! I would give myself a 4/10 just for being able to accomplish it.
