2005-2015 Toyota Tacoma Front Hidden Recovery Bar by Mobtown Offroad.

The recovery points on a stock Tacoma are low and under the front bumper which can be annoying when you're out on the trails and get stuck.

Here is a low cost, solid solution that retains an almost stock look, adds a tough image to the truck, uses all existing mounting locations and hardware that provides a better, stronger, smarter recovery solution.

All gussets and mounting plates are 1/4" thick steel, tubing is 3" square x 3/16" wall, and shackle gussets are 3/4" thick steel with a 1" hole for a d-ring.

Recovery Bars comes standard with the receiver and shackle points.

Mobtown Offroad Recovery Bar comes standard powder coated in textured black.

Where would the receiver come out from? Do you have any made and mounted with one to be able to see it?

It would be centered on the tube and come out in the same plane as the d-ring shackle points. I don't have one of those yet made, working on it this week.

I had the same process you had sir. When I do go out, most of the guys I go with have winches and I'm smart enough to avoid spots I know I'm not going to make it. Plus, like you said the winch mount, which is nice and functional is $500+, then you have to buy a winch. A plate bumper is just too much weight IMO for the front end of a 4 cyl plus I like my MPG where it is. This idea of mine was the perfect solution for me and I figured others may like it too.

Uh, no. its $480 with no recovery points, $630 with...... and honestly, $325 isnt terrible for the two recovery points plus a 2" receiver tube for mounting a winch too....

However, i would like to know if this will work on a Pre-2012 model, as it would be among the cheaper options if it does

Oh, yes I know the lower valence is different. You'll just have to trim bumper a little differently is all. I haven't fitted it through a lower valence on a 2005-2011 truck yet.

As far as the cost goes, it is more than "two hooks on a piece of steel". The entire assembly is to 1/4" thick plates that slide over existing bolts on the chassis, with 3" sq tube welded to those plates, as well as a piece of 3" sq tube welded across to tie them in, then two pieces of 3/4" thick steel welded to the sq tube. Everything is gusseted together with 1/4" thick gussets. It may seem like a simple, cheap item but it really isn't. It takes over 4 hours between plasma table time, saw time, material and labor to manufacture one. I am not including the time it took me to engineer the product and prototype/test fit on the truck. That is a cost you never get back. Then if the order requires powder coat I have to pay to ship it out, have it powder coated then returned to then ship out again. You pay for steel by the pound and all of the parts that make this are heavy plate and heavy wall tubing. The entire assembly weighs around 45 lbs when complete.
