Just saw ARB post this from SEMA. 2005-2015 Tacoma Safari Snorkel. Only took 10 years...but good to see a tacoma specific model.

I think snorkels are just one of those things you either love or hate. ;)

Interesting, could someone explain to me the whole snorkel thing, is their still a normal rectangular air filter? Snorkel > CAI ? just curious. I understand the main design is for water crossings but does it reap any other benefits over other options?

Most people actually get snorkels not for water crossings, but for dust. It gets the intake up high and out of the cloud when you're on a dusty trail.

Yeah. I need one bad. I take my truck offroading a couple times a month and the air filter gets full of dirt.

We are VERY excited to hear this is finally coming to fruition. It has been rumored off/on for the last few years but the Safari Snorkel engineers were recently in the US and it was a priority application.

We have been offering the 2nd Gen Tacoma retrofit kit for many years and have sold and installed hundreds of them. While we feel it was the best kit available given the offering, it wasn't 100% perfect and a true application was often a topic of conversation during our continue talks with ARB and Safari.

    On the shelf soon* :D

*As soon as they are available. Pricing and part number should pop up in the next few months, inventory to the US Spring of 2015. In the meantime we still have a limited amount of the retrofit snorkels and will be closing them out as the new release draws closer. I'll be at the new Tacoma prototype (at SEMA) in a few hours and will snap some close-ups and such.

IMO, it looks too big, I prefer the looks of the "skinny" one (hilux mod)

Yes, it is. While many are running SC's with the SS135MOD (our Hilux retrofit setup), their flow testing and safety cushion resulted in a larger body.

I suspect some will feel the same way and the Hilux offering will always be an option.
