I couldn't afford to buy a Tacoma new, so I bought a Chevrolet Colorado, and regretted it for 5 years.

I righted the wrong and picked up a 2005 in 2011 with 93k miles. I've read all the threads about what you have to look out for in a 2005, but none of them warned me about the first time Atlanta traffic driver behind the wheel of a Ford Escape running the red light. 262k miles of trouble free driving, with minimal required work beyond the basic maintenance.

Both insurance companies are indicating it will be totalled due to age and mileage, but here's to hoping I get it back with a chance to cross 300k miles.

Sadly, the plan was to hand it down to my son in a year or two for his first truck.

Man this truly breaks my heart. I’m sorry for your loss. I hope you manage to get it back up and running.

Hide away in your house and never step outside? There’s a Spongebob episode about that…

Sorry about the truck, OP. Could always buy it back from insurance if the damage isn’t too cost prohibitive.

Yeah it's sad but some things we can't control... that's what insurance is for. Looks like you got 169,000 awesome miles before she was senselessly murdered.
Sounds like nobody was injured so I have to believe something better is around the corner, for you and your son. Stay positive. And let us know if you get her back.

Too bad. First year of a great line of trucks. Only one first.

My last loyal Toyota was destroyed in the prime of life as well.

    You're alive, buy another truck.
