Alright guys so I’ve been reading on here trying to figure out my problem but I haven’t found anyone who’s had the same results I have so I’m going to make this thread. On the way home from work yesterday I let off the gas cruising at 60 and noticed that there was a vibration exactly from 60 down thru 50 so I came home and looked it up and everyone recommended carrier bearing so I order one and replaced it the next day and still have the same problem. I have noticed take off from about 5-15 is real rough and vibrates and also when you slow down from 15-5 the sound it makes is almost like you’re hitting the rumble strips and it’s only when you let off but is fine when you’re cruising. I have already checked over the tires even threw my stock tires on just to see if that was it and nope same thing so I have already checked over the rear brakes and even the diff fluid level and those were both fine also checked shocks those were good greased u joints and all. When I did the carrier bearing I only had time to do one u joint but the other two look fine and don’t have any play. I have heard that if a u joint is bad that it will heat up after driving so I drove it and after checking I noticed that the u joints were not hot but that the yoke on the driveshaft behind the carrier bearing the piece that slides onto the spline and has a nut is real warm so now I am lost any help would be appreciated

Does this happen when in gear, or when in neutral? Or both?

@Athlaos both I’ve noticed it will do it in gear and in neutral even with the clutch pressed in and none of that has an affect on it

At this point all I can think of is some kind of issue with the differential or wheel bearings that's setting up a kind of resonance in the drivetrain.

My tacoma was the wheelbearings that caused the vibrations.. could be worth the check.

Your aviator says you have 3” lift. Most likely your UJoint angles are introducing the vibrations. Lots of discussions elsewhere on this site about UJoint angles and vibrations you can read as to how to diagnose. This can lead to wearing out the center bearing but that is a symptom and not the cause.

Did vibration start after you had lift or was there some other event that preceded the vibration?

@Desert Dog all the u joints are good but I did notice my driver side cv shaft has play on the diff side I checked the passenger side one first but didn’t know that only the driverside is the problem but I thought the vibration was coming from the rear but I could be wrong but I did notice it got better for some reason or maybe I’m just used it it. I lifted it back in November and this problem just came up but I will replace the needle bearing and see what happens from there
