recently bought an 05 prerunner. Love the truck, with the exception of the lousy rear drum brakes. I was kinda surprised to see drums on a Japanese vehicle to be honest. Anyway, the parking break is next to useless. When my wife parks noise down on a hill, the truck bounces back n fourth when she lets off the brake. This of course drives me into an OCD fit. This bouncing is not good for the tranny as I am told.

should I even worry about this? My wife just got pissed and told me to STFU when I told her to ease off the brakes slowly when parking on a hill.

Yes, I would be too. You might be in luck with just lubing up some of the pivot points inside the drums and the cable. My father has an 03 Tundra, and his parking brake seized up because he never used it, but he cleaned and lubed some of the parking brake assembly inside of the drums, and it started to work again. Hopefully someone else that has had this problem and were able to fix it, so they can give you a better idea on what to do. Good luck
