I have a 2005, V6, 6 speed manual. I just got back from the local Toyota dealership. I intended to get a new shifter seat. My shifter has gotten really sloppy again. It was also bad when I got it 6 years I had to replace it then. I came home without one as they did not have one in stock. Even if they did, I certainly would not pay $99.35 plus tax for that little plastic thing!!!

As I recall from 6 years ago there was a more sturdy after market part that fit Gen 1 models but was not available for Gen 2. I see some stock parts online from various sources supposedly genuine Toyota. Prices range from $16.00 on eBay to $53.24 from an online Toyota place.

Are there better after market parts to replace this part # 33505-0K010.

Has anyone made one from brass? I have a small machine shop and I am thinking of trying that. I actually made the last replacement from Nylon. Obviously, it only lasted 6 years. Well actually only about 5 as it has been bad for a while.

    Thanks.
