for now the cheapest way to get at most 1.25" is to get spindle spacers and then 2" blocks IF you have your OE springs (most swap leaf packs for the 4x4 which drops you a good 1.5 to 1.75 in the rear).

you can either have them made by someone/buy a previously made set/make your own. as far as I know the spindle bolt is very hard to find (making it yourself). see my build thread for my 2/3 drop - has the bolt type you should be looking for posted in there if you plan on making it yourself. other than that, your other choice would be to go with the DJM kits.

Let me know if you'd like to order some spacers.

I know the guy that makes them. They make them as big as 1.5in. Cost around $100.

    I can't decide.

I like a tall seating height and the ability to travel fire roads without worries.
I had 31x10.50s on my '94 SR5... but that truck was a DAWG on hills and actually had trouble maintaining 80 on some of the grades on I-5 between LA and Oregon.

I don't want to get into that, or the MPG losses, on my '08 RC.

OTOH, my Tundra was stock height with a slightly more aggressive stance from the tire/wheel size and offset. Looked sharp with the TRD flares. Fitted a Hellwig swaybar and it cornered like it was on rails.

So my other thought it a MILD drop... more of a leveling than anything... on my '08, and bump the tire diameter up an inch or so.
I just hate the way the rear wheelwells look with the stock tires and ride height... but being a DD, I can't get into any major projects that will risk having it out of service more than a few hours.

    So which way to go?
Buy 17" rims for my wife's '04 Rav4 and move her rims to the Taco and go with 235/60-16?
Install a Daystar spacer kit to level and bump up to a larger offroad type tire and take the MPG hit.

If I knew that a set of 4x4 springs would lower the rear enough to level without needing to mod the front, I'd go with that, but it looks like the 4x4 springs might give me an inch more than I'd want.

4x4 leafs are within the 1.25" to 1.75" of drop (if you look, the base leafs are more arched than the 4x4's). When I had my 235/60/18's on, the front was stock, and I only swapped leafs, wasn't as bad imo. For me I noticed somewhat of a slant toward the back when I had the wheels turned, but it was level when them straight.

That might be the way to do then.
Definitely don't want lean, if it comes in closer to 1.75" and does lean, I guess I could always do a 1/2" spindle spacer to restore a small rake, or helper springs.

I like a bit of rake, but the ass end of the Taco just looks flat stupid with the 215/70-15 under it.
I can see more wheelwell than I can tire... and that's with a cap and bedrug!

helper springs would be less of a headache unless you know where to get the spindle bolt (in my 2/3 lowering thread, I have the spindle bolt size, only problem is finding it and being able to purchase 4 - apparently the bolt is an industrial type which they only come in bags of like 100 qty and you can only buy that 100 or nothing at all from a supplier like Fastenal or what have you). I do know that a 5/8" grade 8 washer will give you a good 1/8", you can probably get away with one on each bolt.

    Does boltdepot have them?
I've picked up some oddball sizes for my bike. Biggest problem is getting the proper length that I need once getting into the longer bolts. They'll have small increments up to 40 or 50mm, but then they start jumping by 10 and 20mm or more.

it's worth a try. imo, longer is better cause all you would have to do is just chop off the excess v. not having enough. The OE spindle bolt is a 5/8" flange type bolt (which is a bitch to find long enough - when I was searching that is - my spacers are 1", although I do have enough space to add in a good 1/8").
