Yes the point was avoiding a Carfax report or documentation indicating a repair.

Currently it seems Toyota is forcing many websites to withdraw parts or manual shown on websites. To minimize exposing a site more easily to Toyota, look for a PM and I'll send the links.

If Toyota will replace it on their dime, go for it. If not and you plan to repair, see if this option is viable with your welder.

To me, it looks like the heat from the exhaust pipe may have accelerated the rust, or atleast made the paint less effective. The hole matches the bend in the pipe, and its pretty close to the frame. Might need a heat shield there, especially if trucks are developing the same rust spot.

Might be a smart move to get an annual rust proofing with frame guarantee on your 2012.

I'm spraying the you know what out of mine the last week. Actually regret not doing it much sooner, and it doesn't snow here.

I was surprised at how much water came out of the seams and joints on my frame while corrosion proofing it.

    what a ***.

Since all people crawl under a truck. I bought a zr2 s-10 couple yrs back. I was on a deployment and father in law looked/drove the truck. Ok it to be in good shape. 2 months later brake lines splits from rust and had to replace all brake lines. Blame it him, no, most people do not do crawl under a truck to check the inner frame.

The answer is obvious, buy the frame section from Toyota, paint it, oil the underbody, drive it or trade it in. $250 for the part, maybe $250 for the welding unless u have a buddy that can weld.

No brainier, all because you didn't oil spray your truck.

Sorry, I followed the first 5 pages, but the forum only sends me the odd update posted email.

Really, this issue doesn't concern me, doesn't look really that bad. My buddies 79 yota was worse, but only bent after putting 7 kegs of beer in the bed. Didn't even bend with heavy off roading. There is more frame strength there then you think. Probably just fine for highway driving. He drove it in to the dealership, he could probably drive it out.

I'm more worried about my transmission, but that's another story.

I could doctor up that frame for a case of beer with scrap steel laying in my shed.

Here in Canada, they didn't fix the frame, or give you a cheque, they offered you a premium trade value to get you into a new Toyota.
