Hello im new to this form but ive been in other forums like T4R.org and Rav4Worlds for my other cars. But i believe its the same thing. Anyways i have a 2005 Tacoma 2wd manual and i cant seem to find a way to take off the front shock. I tried to use spring compressors and it doesnt work. The spring is too wide, like the gap of the spring it too wide and i cant get it to compress because the tool reaches its max compression. Help please.

I prefer to remove the whole strut assembly and then compress the coil. If you're reusing it and using a spring compressor to reinstall it, it's already compressed.

why buy or rent a spring depressor if you don't have too.

I prefer doing it that way. I've done it several times, and don't like trying to hold everything lined up while operating the floor jack to compress the spring. It was $35 and I feel it was money well spent.
