I had a rattle coming from the left side exhaust Manifold area and I found the converter material separated from the shell.

No cat code or any other issues

how common is this on these trucks?

I’m going to replace the manifold but for now I just removed the material so it doesn’t get sucked back into the engine.

Do you have a pic of the separated metal. Will help us to understand exactly what you’re referring to. Thanks

And are you sure it’s not just a heat shield??

    Sorry I didn’t take a picture.

the honeycomb part of the converter started to break up on one side and the rest of the material was rattling.

I bought it used so I’m not sure if someone drove it with a misfire or anything like that.

I inspected all the heat shields prior to dropping the y pipe and the rattle is gone now that the honeycomb is gone
