    Greetings,

    I just recently acquired:

2005 Tacoma Single Cab Base Model
    4 cylinder, 56k miles

I’m planning on using it to travel to work, but I travel w/ my current company’s vehicles ALOT.

*I wanted to buy a bed top but I don’t understand if it’s a long bed or a short bed. I was planning on buying one online having It shipped, before I go home in a month or so and install then. Is there anyway to identify what my bed length online w/o actually having to measure it myself

*No automatic door locks, I was planning on having a car alarm installed since I leave some items in the vehicle but Im unsure what is needed for a remote start... auto door locks? Is Toyota not brand specific and works with universal locks and the modules ?

*whats the biggest rim size that’ll fit ? Without mods ?

    Welcome!

All single cabs are 6’ bed, which is considered long bed.

Not sure on the remote start/power locks or rim size.

    Lotsa shit.
first of all, hello and welcome!
your truck is a 'long bed' it is all they made for 2nd gen single cabs. I had a Leer 100xq cap on it, and it was nothing short of excellent. would do it again, and have my dad's 2 tacoma's both have Leer caps. ARE caps are good too.
as for the door locks, no idea I never ventured there but it can be done I am sure with money, time and more money. however, for years it never was a problem for me because I knew it would work and it just simply did.
when you say rim size, do you mean tires?? also, 4x2 or 4x4? someone on here can help you out but we have a tacoma 4x4 with nothing done to it, it is on 265 or 275 tires with no lift.
edit: mine with the cap, 4" lift and 33's just for reference, hope this helps!

It's a long bed, same as my 2012 standard cab.
Are you having an alarm installed or a alarm/remote start? The shop that does it should have no issue installing universal door lock actuators. However, it will add to the price and do you really need them? See if they can use a "T-harness" to tap into ignition wiring so they don't butcher your stock electrical.
I fit LT265/75R16 (31.6") with stock steel rims and no lift (haven't been off-road).

That would be determined by the tire size selected. 16 and 17" are reasonable choices because you get the better tire selections/prices

Hint: We have a wheels and tires forum to enjoy. You can learn a lot there.

*Tacomas don't have rims, they have wheels

*Tacomas don't have struts, they have shocks
