I would like to know if someone knows how to wire directly the rear differential actuator to the dashboard, I just need to lock and unlock the rear differential bypassing the computer because my taco does not have one the 4x4 mechanism is all manual per previous owner upgrades.

In other words need to lock and unlock my rear differential directly from my dashboard

If someone can help would be amazing thank you

That mod effectively bypasses the 4wd ECU for the rear locker function so it shouldn't matter if the rest of the 4wd system is there or not.

This will be a little tricky. It is not like an aftermarket e-locker, where there is an electromagnet that you energize to lock the diff. Then you could have a simple on-off switch.

Instead the stock locker has a motor, which moves an actuator from one position to the other. It is not an on/off thing, it is a motor that moves forward and backward a specific distance. There is a limit switch, to tell the computer when the actuator is in the right position, so it can turn off the motor. The actuator applies pressure to the locking mechanism via some kind of spring, so it will pop in or out when the gears are unloaded. There is a separate switch to show when the locker is actually engaged, on the dash. It can take some time before the locker engages or disengages, after the actuator is done moving.

So you will need a controller, to power the motor in the desired direction, until the limit switch shows that the actuator is in the correct position. This is not something you can do with a manual on/off switch... at a minimum you'd need a momentary fwd/rev switch for thr motor. I'm not sure what happens if you move the motor too far, or not far enough.

It would also be wise to make sure you can't accidentally engage the locker when you're driving on the highway.

I would use a microcontroller for this. It would be a lot of work, so I would recommend using stock 4x4 electronics if possible.

If you do, please do a quick write up or at least report back and let us know how it was to install and how it's working for you.

To follow up... here is the wiring diagram for the locker:

    upload_2023-12-20_10-21-6.png

I'm not totally sure how the limit switch is configured, but here's how I might wire up the actuator, as simply as possible. Sorry for the napkin-quality sketch here:
    wiring idea.png

It would use a mom-off-mom switch on the dash, to move the actuator. A dash bulb would light up briefly, to show that the motor is moving. Two relays would be used, to stop the motion when the limit switch reaches the correct position. Again, I'm not sure which way the limit switch moves, or that I've interpreted the diagram correctly. So some testing would be required. I would use a transistor to limit the motion on one end, since the logic is backwards. I'm not sure that this would work, or that you could pass relay coil current through the limit switch as proposed. But, if I were in your position, this is what I would try. No microcontroller at least.
