My 05 TRD sport has the hitch, 7 plug wiring harness, transmission cooler in front of the main radiator and I think it has an extra oil cooler. I was told a blue ring around the oil filter meant I have the extra oil cooler. I guess that is true. I was also told if towing pkg present, I have an over size alternator.
I can’t find out much about a trailer brake. Is it part of the wiring harness and I have to purchase and install the actual trailer brake. Where does the trailer brake get installed. I love this truck and want to tow safely. Took it off-road first time at my son’s insistence at Windrock. It did great with the moderate trails. My son broke his after market strut. I guess they build them tough.
My main question is about the towing break and where it is installed.

The trailer brake controller is not included in the tow package.
But there is a plug for it.

You engine cooling fan clutch should be pink.

A blue ring under the oil filter doesn’t mean anything.
The engine oil cooler looks like this

The ATF cooler is a small cooler on the drivers side.
    In front of the radiator/condenser.

I don't believe the aux engine oil cooler was yet included in the Tow package for 2005. A factory seven-pin trailer connector is included with the Tow Prep package will have the pin for the trailer brakes. It may also have the connector for the trailer E-brake controller (not included/available separately) located near the driver's side floor kick panel. My 2014 has this connector. At some point, Toyota also added electronic trailer sway control to the tow package and to the VSC suite/software. This feature isn't mentioned on the 2005 specifications sheets, but it is on the 2014 specs. (it works well and adjusts throttle, speed, and applies the ABS at individual wheels, and uses Stability Control to control yaw. It even illuminates the brake lamps as a warning when it's doing it's thing)
