    Greetings,

I have a 2005 Tacoma 4x4 TRD Sport with 266K on it. It received the frame recall 3 years ago and she has always been a solid truck without problems. Recently, the brakes have faded and the pedal goes to the floor. I am no dummy and I have been around cars my whole life and this is Tacoma #3 for me. However, I am stumped. Not only me but so are the mechanics in my area who have all shrugged their shoulders and sent me on my way. Here is my issue.

    1. Brake pedal goes to floor. Suggestion. New brakes. Did all new brakes, including calpurs and cylinders. No improvment. $300.
    2. Suggested a new master cylinder. Did that. Nothing. $100.
    3. Two garages tried to bleed brakes with pumps, etc. The only thing I was told is the flow seems weak to the rear brakes. No success. Gracefully, this was free.
    4. Suggested a new booster, bought a used one, put it on myself for $100. Still no improvement.
    5. There is air in the lines by the sounds if it. However, the fluid is coming out solid without air. The stealership said $90 an hour to diagnos and I really want to avoid them. I am left at the ABS block but the dealer did share that should not have anything to do with it and that block should not prevent the system from bleeding.
    6. I am becoming a parts changer without succcess...and the mechanics in the area are trying to be helpful but have me walk each time. The truck has all new brake lines from the frame change and there is no evidence of a leak. There is no fluid dripping, etc. I am just at $500 and still have the same issue I started with. Its not so much the problem it is not being able to figure it out is what is driving me nuts!

If anyone can help, that would be awsome! Thanks!!!!

I've been in the same boat for a while, did almost exactly what you have done. I have purchased new rear brake adjusters and have yet to install them, I think my star key is worn out in the drums and just isn't properly adjusting the rear brakes anymore causing my front brakes to work double time causing premature fade.

We had a truck with a similar issue had brakes but would go to the floor, customer replaced things just as you did. Recommended a oem master cylinder.

He replaced it with another aftermarket under warranty brought the truck back mad after he did.

Bit the bullet and bought a factory cylinder replaced it himself and no problems after.

Did you bleed the abs module? Scanner is needed.

I went through all this and was resigned to the fact that I was just going to have to accept the brakes as they were and live with it but couldnt, just couldnt, replaced master cylinder again, the problem continued. Took the truck to yet another shop and they changed the master cylinder yet again! No more problems... went through changing out the master cylinder three times. Now, much to my relief, I have brakes!!
