I'm gonna need new tires this fall/winter.
What's the largest diameter or ratio I can go without worrying about rubbing the fenders?
Width wise I have 265's on now; can I go up to 285?
I'm not opposed to adding spacers.
my truck is stock TRD OR.

265/75/16 Or 265/70/17 depending on wheel size

^this. Stick with 265s, 285s will rub even with a lift

P.S. the search button will answer alot of your questions :)

I looked around most threads seem to be about max width. I'm pretty happy with 265's. Here I'm mainly asking about ratio.

    I'm at 265/70R/16
    keeping the wheels.
So I can't go any higher than 75?

is 75 the highest ratio made on 265's?
I looked it up on the tire comparison and the difference between 70's and 75's is an inch in diameter. That's a start I guess, but i was hoping for more height.

The only 265/80/16 out there are swampers. Unless you have 18" wheels, then you can find 265/70/18 which are equivalent to that size

So here are some size comparisons.(first three are toyo second three are BFG MT T/A KM2.) If i get 15inch wheels i can have 32.8" diam. instead of 31.8 on the 265/75's so that's 2 in more than what i have now but only 0.1 inch wider. Will 32.8 fit?

265/75/16 is pretty much the best you can do stock height with no rub. 255/75/17 is another option, a little taller, but you will need 17's if you really want to go bigger then you are either ganna be trimming, need a lift, need wheel spacers or different wheels.

You would want to lift your truck to minimize rubbing with those. Your on the right track though, alot of issues with rubbing come with the width of the tire, but obviously diameter is also a factor. Maybe get a small lift and get the 255s, even bilstein 5100s set at 1.75" If your fine with a little trimming and want a tall tire, 255/85/16 is a good choice, although there is not many options in that size. I have only seen 4 types and the toyos are expensive.
