Although I've never liked the idea of those extenders I have used them in the past, sometimes pretty hard and never had an issue with them. I think for street use they would be just fine if they give you the correct compressed and extended lengths. I think the Toytec extenders would be too long for you though. They could result in a bottomed shock at full compression, so you would need to check that. Toytec also uses a very short coupling nut. I would toss that and get longer nuts from Mcmaster-Carr for a little more strength. The Toytec kit is just a pair of studs, coupler nuts, and lock nuts. All hardware stuff, but I don't have a source for studs.

You are always better off to just get the right shocks in the first place.

Having read this thread, I'm now under the impression that the rear Bilstein 5100 shocks that are currently on my 08 DCSB will not be long enough when I install my full Dakar Leaf Pack & Icon Extended Travel Coilovers. I'm not able to purchase expensive rear shocks atm(Icon 2.5, etc) so, what is a good solution for me? I do drive the truck offroad once in a while and don't want to be limited in driving....

@Downsouth Motorsports good morning from South Florida !
revisiting this old thread for a suspension overhaul. I have a 2013 Toyota Taco, 2nd gen DCSB 4x4. my rear leaf springs collapsed over time and I am replacing them with Dobinsons 110-R Medium duty leaf springs. as the 4x4 shop is installing them, theyre saying my rear 5100 series Bilstein shocks are too short. I was told by dobinsons that this leaf pack would be compatible with them, but it doesn't look like it. any idea what my options are now? any update on bilstein rear shock options since this convo 10+ years ago? it appears the dobinson 110 leaf pack will give me a 2" lift with empty bed, but I typically have a fiberglass shell and a RTT on top of the shell (300lbs roughly). please advise if able!
