im positive that it is not exhaust and that its an internal engine noise. unfortunately, there are too many people on here that just think any tick is the normal and run it until it blows. ill be turning to other sources i guess. ran 5oz of seafoam in the oil for 100miles before oil change (to clean any gunky lifters) but even with fresh oil in it, it didnt quiet it down very much.

my gut says something with the valve train, but well see.

when i have a mashed piston with a hole in it from a stuck valve, all you guys who told me to just run it harder can pitch in for an ls swap

It's not hard to build a little smoke machine from a jar and a charcoal to look for an exhaust leak.

I imagine it's only when warmed up though if at all.

You can check little emission valves with a 9V battery.

I've actually driven to dealers and asked a mechanic what they thought. That practice isn't completly gone. Sometimes you get lucky, meet a nice guy.

Good to always KNOW a mechanic you would use even if you rarely use them.

You don't have lifters. It's overhead cammed.

    Nothing hydraulic about the valvetrain.
