If the light is on there should be a code stored in the computer. Make sure you are using a reader that can read SRS codes. The obd scanner I have has separate menus for each system. SRS, ABS, Emission, and so on.

When you pulled the clock / module out did you plug everything back in? That will give you an SRS fault. I noticed that you said you powered the stereo on to check it. If you did this with the clock/srs module unplugged you may have to go to the dealer to have it reset. The second gens do not like it when powered on with this module unplugged. It may reset on its own after a bit.

Yes there is just one plug?? Yes I sure did have the srs unplugged to check my stereo, maybe that's why it's not giving me a code on my scanner? Geez these things are like a delicate flower lol :oldglory:

Not sure if anyone mentioned this yet but there's a recall on a coil in the steering column that causes the airbag light to come on. Replace the coil and the airbag light goes out. There's a service bulletin on this so the work is free.

I have a 2005 2nd gen & the truck was sitting all summer & the air bag light came on. What appears to be at the same time is a clicking in the steering column? Any ideas??

You can read the airbag codes through the dash if you don't have a proper scanner.

One minute Ill get you a link....

    http://www.customtacos.com/tech.old.../06toyrm/06toypdf/06rmsrc/rm2006ta/047004.pdf

Basically you run a jumper from terminal 4 to 13 on the OBD connector (can use a paper clip)

Then count the blinks. Its that easy, did it on my 06 as well.

You can look up codes by # of blinks here :

Yike, I dont even know where that is. I saw this chart in another pg. I think I may ask a local AA if they can read the code with there fancy readers. I did ck the connections under the seat. Are you familiar with this cable or clock spring thing?

Could the cable/clock spring be related to my air bag light? Thats something I read. Other than maybe my air bag not working, is there any other danger? IE air bag goes off?

Yeah, if your clockspring is failed, your airbag light will be on. I don't know enough about how the airbag system works to tell you if there is any danger of airbag inadvertently going off.
