2006 Double Cab 4wd does not engage!

2006 tacoma GRN250

Hello to all,
I am faced with a situation concerning my 4wd. Whenever i turn the 4wd knob to 4H the 4wd light does not light up or even blink and the 4wd does nit engage; however if I switch the engine off (with the knob still in 4H position) and back on again the 4wd engages. Any solution to this situation?
