I've been carting my boys around in my truck and I'm a little worried about the fact that they do not have headrests in the rear jump seats of my Access cab.

My five year old has bumped his head on the rear glass a couple times. Not too badly but this was with pretty tame/normal driving.

What will happen if we are rear ended?

My 12 year old usually sits up front but sits back there when my wife is with us.

I thought the NTSB mandated headrests for all seats, something like 30 years ago? How did this get by and are my kids safe?

I'm wondering if I should swap out the rear seats for the newer style, if they will fit or if I could make a headrest that would work. Even if it were just glued to the rear glass, that would be better than nothing I would think.

Anyone else have this problem or hear of it being a problem?

I am looking for the same fix to my 06'. Have you had any luck? I think I may just buy the assembly from a junk yard and give it a try.

No, I have not had any luck. I'd like to hear about what you find if you do try a junk yard. I know a lot of guys prefer the old style rear seat vs the newer one so it would be great if someone was willing to switch with you. I wonder about the headrest attachment points though and if we have them buried in our trucks or if they don't exist and would have to build something to create them.
