This is my first post so excuse me if I put it in the wrong area.

Was just t-boned on the passenger side of my mint condition 4x4 TRD Tacoma with only 95 thousand miles. Other parties insurance claims fault but they are still trying to figure out whether they're going to total it or pay for repairs.

My question is, the engine was not touched only potentially the frame, approximately how much could I get for Salvage if the frame is bent and they choose to total? Pictures attached.

Thanks for any help y'all might provide, been in tears for the last week. This truck was supposed to last me a lifetime but now it will have a bad accident on the record and potentially not safe for me to drive.

I bet they fix. Highly doubt any frame issues.

Sorry your first thread/post to TW is under these circumstances, I have the same year Tacoma and feel your pain. I'm glad you weren't injured in the accident, it's stated often but true that the Tacoma can be repaired, but your health/life sometimes cannot be.

Thanks y'all, yes, glad I wasn't injured for sure! I'm going to ask for depreciation value if they do fix and probably turn around and sell it and buy a new one.

Does anyone have an idea of depreciation value?

There's a lot of damage, on a lot of different body panels. Looks totaled AF to me.

I might add that neither of the two doors open or the tailgate.

There's a lot of cab damage to the A pillar, B pillar, and cab corner. I would be real surprised if all that damage is less $$ than the totaled threshold.

    Definitely totaled.

To answer your question, if you bought it back from the insurance company and tried to resell it for parts/whole as salvage, I would expect this truck to sell for ~5k+ on IAAI and probably like $3500 on craigslist.
Assuming it's a salvage certificate NOT a salvage title

    Lynlan and Fast5speed,

That's what i was thinking bout doing; taking the lesser settlement amount and buying back truck. I have heard the insurance companies generally pay only hundreds for salvage when it's worth much more.

Thx so much for your responses!

Get the doors and panel from the junk yard, have them painted too match then put them on ,and you have 90% of the body damage fixed for a small cost.get the rest of it fixed as your money allows.

    Lynlan,

How do you acquire a salvage certificate? I thought if the insurance company totals the vehicle it has to have a salvage title?

And thanks for the repair information!

LED's, Tonneau cover, Fog lights, Front mud flaps, Cooper discoverer a/t3 tires, Tailgate reinforce, Cruise control, LED ditch lights, Bluedriver, 8-ball shift knob, Hitch, SR5 grille.
if you cant open the tailgate its likely the frame was bent pushing in the side of the box as it twisted. That's totalled

You should probably start looking for another truck. It’s totalled based on where on the truck the accident happened. As far as the insurance goes, don’t take their first offer as they’ll probably low ball you.... play hard so You can get as much as possible for it to put towards your next tacoma.

By the way, other drivers suck!
