    Newfiebruh,

That's exactly what I was thinking when I was trying to open it at the scene of the accident. The car that hit me was a small Sonata. His front end was destroyed completely, and his airbag deployed as well.

LOL, yes, other drivers do suck especially here in crowded Cali (guess since I'm from Texas I'm adding to the crowd).

I'm totally going to get what i need out of this accident even if i have to take them to court.

    Hey T4RFTMFW,

nope, not yet. Hoping to hear from him today. I'm supposed to be working out of town this week and next two but because of the accident had to push trip a few days. Told the guy they need to hurry or have to pay for rental for 3 weeks.

At least the kids dad has USAA, i hear they are pretty good.

FYI- they always throw out a low salvage offer on the first call. Do your homework and see what similar Tacoma's are selling for. Use that info to get them to pay out more. My wife was a adjuster and most all have a higher threshold than they first offer you.
    Good luck!

    Kimo,

Thanks so much for your response, I figured they did and i have definitely been doing a lot of research. I cannot find a truck like mine out there for sale. But some similar are selling for pretty high so i am expecting a lot!

Lots of misinformation and horrible advice in here, be careful how much you take literally.

Even mentioning litigation will get you more money. From my brief experience (professionally) working in the insurance industry, anytime someone lawyered up so-to-speak, the case was then treated completely differently.

Lawyers will then proceed to call all of the shots, especially, claimant to adjuster interaction. It is then much more difficult for the adjuster to then make any progress on the case. Most of the time they can't even talk to the claimant, thus they can't even close on an above average offer. The lawyer never intends to go to court, they'll usually just settle with the insurance company out of court, but of course for a much higher price.

Just be very nice, and direct. If you come up with a reasonable, or even above average offer, and tell them it's either that OR you'll have the law office send over their info, and they will handle it from here on out. You'll get what you want. The key is you just need to be calm and reasonable.

    Epluribusunom,

That is exactly what i was thinking!!! I have done my due diligence, collected reference data, run the numbers and have a settlement i am willing to accept which is fair. They give it to me, or risk court case, simple!

    Lawrenccar1,

Really good to know how much you were able to acquire in diminished value! I was considering getting an estimate for DOV if they choose to repair. Will deff be valued a lot less than b4 accident : (

    Itaro,

I definitely understand what you are saying. A couple things i want, leather seats, dual control temp and heated seats (i'm always freezing and travel to mountains most weekends). I realize i can get the leather seats on some of the trd off roads and have been looking into the escondido TE motorsport build which comes with the 3"/1" lift and level and other build options out the door with full warranty coverage on all parts plus ko2's for under MSRP... i will see what they can find as far as the leather package!

I'm glad things are working out. Definitely stick around here in TW. Don't be a stranger once this situation is resolved.
