2006 RAV4 with 42 000 km

I am wondering if anyone has any experience with Rav 4s. I might have the opportunity to purchase a 2006 with only 42 000 km on it. It's a single owner vehicle and am just looking for a cheap commuter car to get to work. From what I've read they can have transmission problem that seem to fixed by changing out the transmission control module. I know it's an older vehicle and just wanted to know if they are worth putting money into or not?

We have a 2004, 2.4 L with 158K miles. Replaced the water pump and alternator at 125K. It has had 4 sets of tires(Geolanders), three brake jobs, two 02 sensors, new muffler & CV axels , 5 batteries. Transmission drain & fill twice. Three serpentine belts. Three plug changes(platinum in now).

Oil changes every 4-5 months

Always starts, never has left anyone stranded. Smooth shifting transmission.
Around here the older ones are everywhere.

Just had front & rear struts replaced
